Many athletes experience imposter syndrome. This Many athletes experience imposter syndrome.

This race - Silver at the UCI Elite World Marathon Championships - was the first time I truly started to believe in myself.

The doubts never disappeared completely, but experience taught me how to quiet them.

Now as a coach, that’s what I try to pass on - belief takes work, just like fitness 💭🚵

Iliac artery endofibrosis is a condition that resu Iliac artery endofibrosis is a condition that results in the narrowing of the external iliac artery and results in a reduction of blood flow to the muscles of the lower leg. The condition occurs in cyclists and other athletes. Most athletes (cyclists are the most common) first start to notice a reduction in power to the affected limb during high intensity exercise or a feeling of a build-up of lactic acid/heaviness of the lower limb. The symptoms may include cramp in the thigh/calf and tingling/‘pins and needles’ sensation in the foot.

Surgery involves removing part of the narrowed lining and placing a patch on the front of the artery to widen it. The widened artery permits greater blood flow and prevents symptoms associated with endofibrosis. The patch is usually made from another vein, but sometimes (as in Sally’s case) it is made from a bovine patch or Dacron.

Sally (Iron Sally Coaching) has first hand experience of the condition. Having undergone surgery to repair both her iliac and femoral arteries, she truly understands the physical and emotional challenges of recovery.

Through her journey back to full training and competition, Sally gained a deep insight into what it takes to rebuild fitness safely and effectively after surgery. She’s uniquely equipped to guide others through post-surgery recovery, helping athletes to return to performance with confidence.
